Sioux Falls O' Gorman Cross Country Meet Information
Coaches,
Just a short note about the O’Gorman Cross Country Invite to be held on
Friday August 29th.
First and Foremost! We are running our
invite, starting this year, at a different location. We will be moving our home
course to Yankton Trail Park. We will be using the west end of the park—the same
course that Augustana College uses when running their “Twi-light” meet each
fall. It is located at I-229 and Western Avenue. You can enter on the Minnesota
Avenue side, or off of 57th street. Call or email with any
questions on this. We are planning on running a Middle School division this
year. If those kids are not on your state site, please forward those to us as
soon as possible. Time schedule and distances are listed below. I have listed
some information below that should be helpful to you. If you have any other
questions, just give me a call here at O’Gorman, or you can also email me if
that works for you. Hope your summer went well, and look forward to seeing you
on the 29th.
We plan to take your roster from the State Web Site on Tuesday August 26th.
Please have this updated; it makes entry so much easier. Using Hy-Tek allows us
to have immediate results for all teams.
All athletes will be assigned a competitor number that will be written on
their hand. We will have this information for you when you arrive. Any changes
you have after that can be made the day of the race. No “Pre Entry” of races is
necessary. Please email Aaron in our activities office with any questions or
concerns: astrand@sfcss.org
If you have any media outlets that need the results, please bring that
information with you so we can forward this on to them.
Thanks!
Doug Lindner

O’Gorman High School Cross Country
Yankton Trails Cross Country Course
Location:
West End of Yankton Trail Park. I-229 and Western Ave. Access from 57th
street entrance located on the south side of the park.
There is also access from Minnesota
Avenue.
Course Design:
One mile loop. Identical course to that used by Augustana College at their “Twi-light”
meet. There is also a “Half Mile” loop cut into the regular course.
Notes From The Course:
·
Start at North end—In front of “Big
Tree”, measuring off of small tree to the east.
·
Electrical hook up for results is
located just behind start line.
·
120 meters from start to side walk
area.
·
260 meters to the first turn, and
then you circle back to the north. Follow the tree line.
·
400 meter mark is just after you
turn east along sidewalk. First tree along sidewalk.
·
800 meter mark is once you turn back
north, just before the Big pine trees to your right.
It falls just short of “Yankton trail” park sign off to the east of you.
·
1200 meter mark is heading south,
coming up to the bathroom area. It is at the point of the 2nd small
tree before the last big light pole on that side.
·
Bathrooms to the finish is
approximately 250 meters.
·
1600 mark is about 25 meters past
the Big tree. It lines up with the “gate” in the chain link fence along the
interstate.
Half Mile Loop:
·
Follow the original course past the
400 mark to the corner you turn back to the south.
·
Continue past that corner to the
first tree that is located just past the green bush on your left.
·
Pick up the regular course there,
and finish that back to the start.
