Coach Gruenhagen

        Coach Gruenhagen is in his 9th year as the Head boys and girls 7th-12th grade Cross Country Teams. During his tenure as head coach, Gruenhagen has coached 28 boys and 10 girls to all-ESD performances, including 3 individual boys champions, along with 3 ESD conference boys team titles.  Coach Gruenhagen has also coached 17 boys, and 6 girls to all-state runs, including two boys Individual State Champions, and 1 girl Individual State Champion.  Along with being the head XC coach he is also in charge of coaching the boys and girls distance runners on the Bobcat Track and Field team.  Besides coaching for BHS Chris teaches Physical Education & Health at Mickelson Middle School here in Brookings, SD.

         Prior to joining the Brookings School District in 2008 Chris attended school at South Dakota State University where he graduated in 2007 with a degree in Physical Education Teacher Education with a minor in Health Ed.  He also ran both Cross Country and Track and Field for the Jacks from 2002-2007.
